What things give you energy?
Energy lord, I can’t remember the last time I had it. Living with MS means always having fatigue. A very heavy and debilitating symptom. Somedays, I can’t do anything because it’s too much for me. Others see laziness and disappointment. I see failure and disgrace.
No Energy Here
With my kids back to school, I tend to be buying soda more. Why? The reality is it doesn’t do anything for me but make me gittery. Coffee, no way! There’s not much that helps, it seems. I’m even on meds for energy. I can’t seem to even notice if it’s actually doing anything. The doctor always has to assure me that without it, I’d be way worse.
Diet
I’ve noticed cutting out dairy has helped. I’ve tried to start implementing the Mediterranean diet more into my life. I’ve noticed when I eat those foods I have more energy and my mood is better. Then when I’m eating junk. Exercising seemed out of the question. Even doing my daily tasks feels like exercise to me.
Fatigue Like A Train
Still feels like a train hit me and then was like “Oh I don’t think this bitch is dead” and reverses. I’ve noticed that doing yard work or cooking still leaves me in a worse state than when I started. I’ve also noticed that if I go to the park and walk a lap or two. Even if I’m wiped out in the end, I get a little boost of energy, and that energy lifts my very low mood.
In The End
So, in the end, all always feel like complete crap. There are things I can do like
- Exercise
- Diet
- Outdoors
- Herbal Approaches

Try staying away from soda and sugar and see if it helps. And yes, I do find that getting out in nature and getting some fresh air seem to have some healing properties. The more I do it, the better I feel.
Yes, sugar seems to have a very bad effect on me. Yes, a natural way to help us is definitely nature.
Sugar was very bad for me and did cause me to have a lot of pain. I do not have MS, but other health issues, and do believe the in general, nature is good and healing for all of us.
