Merry Christmas, To My Grandma Ethel, I Love You

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas
It was her favorite holiday
and brought her so much joy
She would go all out decorating the whole house
Santa’s workshop, yup
Penguin skating rink, you bet
Santa sleigh and reindeer always
It made her light up, and when she lit, she was beautiful
Her house was always full on Christmas
And always had grandpa’s famous soup
Over the years, our generation
made her house less and less full
Over the years
she became unable to decorate
so we did it for you
That smile still lit the room
Over the years, she got sicker and sicker
She ended up in the hospital on Christmas
She fought to stay alive until after Christmas
She passed on the 24th of January 2017
she made it past her favorite holiday
Lord, how I miss her smile that lit our world
I miss you both so much
